According to reports in Panama, a group of teenagers discovered a bloated, hairless, and rubbery animal (or alien?) corpse that has a striking resemblance to the the still un-identified Montauk Monster that was discovered on Long Island, NY beaches on multiple occasions.

The group of teenagers spotted the creature crawling out of a cave while playing in the town of Cerro Azul just north of Panama City. The group of friends feared for their safety as the creature approached them. To ensure their safety, they attacked the beast with sticks and rocks. After beating the creature into submission they threw its lifeless body into a pool of water to make sure it was dead after drowning the body.

The teenagers shortly returned to the area of the drowned beast with a camera to take pictures of the corpse. Later that day, the pictures were posted on the Central American country’s Telemetro television station.

Speculation has now reached levels where people are saying that the creature may be from another planet. I am not sure what type of creature it is, but one must remember that it was initially discovered coming out of a cave. The color of its skin (light colored pigment) indicates to me that the creature dwells in the dark or under water as it does not have color from the sun. It appears bloated much like the Montauk Monster, but what ’s most disturbing is that the teenagers said it was alive when they found it.

Once again, the million dollar question is: Where are the remains of the bloated corpse? Studies on this creature could provide us with many answers, additionally giving people the proper protocol to adhere to when cryptids are found in the wild.

<div class="postmetadata alt" style="border-left-color: rgb(221, 221, 221); Their strength in spirit defied ongoing social torment and financially related allegations.

And also that fucking amazing scene from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas…

Dibbsy xxx

DAY FOUR IN THE STUDIO / FRAZER ISLAND ACTIVITIES

It’s been about two or three weeks since I was last in the studio. I went on an adventure to Frazer Island for two weeks. Ah Frazer Island. I was very fortunate to grow up half in Sydney and half on this bizarre giant sand monstrosity where great white sharks circumnavigate the wild weather beaten shores and funnel webs shift in the sand under your feet. Carpet snakes curl in the rafters of the solar powered house that my parents built many moons ago on a sand dune in the midst of a dingo haven.

Here is a little story I wrote about my Island adventures…

Uh hum (inject sound of throat being cleared in preparation for short segment of speech)

‘Well, well, well here I am in the sand duned oasis, deep in the heart of the wilderness and the fern clad terrains…. The sun has retired for the evening leaving the horizon a golden hatchling of crimson delight, stretching its way across the infinite sea.

Here I sit in perfect white sand goodness silently observing this natural wonderment in similarity to an Eskimo. You see it is TERRIBLY FREEZING. It is so god damn cold I could be an Eskimo sitting in or on a white powder-puff of snow. Quote my Father, “It’s like fucking summer up here! Lucky I was completely absurd and brought faux fur…

Traveling back from the Artic,

The Island is regally beautiful.

The melodies of Mr. Hendrix danced me to sleep last night as my Father jigged around the room high as a kite and we all ate vegetables and talked about the universe.

And then…today…I was listening to Floyd and traveling into a psychedelic land…. until coming face to face with a man-eating dingo!

Staring into my eyes fiercely it wanted Dibbs limbs for dinner, reaching into my bag for my bow and arrow I instead found an apple, and catapulted the fruity weapon with great vigor, he ran away with tail between his legs…however, he followed me all the way home and I am happy to say I was not dingo dinner.

My brother accidentally caught a seagull this evening and an eagle came and tore it from his line and then ate it on the beach.

There have been wallabies and cane toads and shark and whale sightings… the Island is still as wild and untouched as ever…’

A snippet of a distant and dangerous land.

Having time away from the studio proved highly beneficial as I listened to the recordings and realized there were quite a few things I wanted to change and modify.

One thing that came to mind whilst strolling the beach was the idea of an all male pirate choir. This was inspired half by a barnacle covered rusty mug I found in the middle of absolutely no-where and half by a Viking choir that I have preformed with a few times over.

So I asked Raymond & Ian & Gene if they could join me in a vocal pirate banter.

To which they said yes.

Out came the Ho Hums, but by God Gene won the award for hilarity in the theatrical vocal sphere. He let out a voice from within that was truly astonishing and I laughed/cried with the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

Today was also a day for body percussion.

‘Lullaby’ is a contemporary classically inspired track, which takes a sixties surf guitar turn in the chorus. I imagined these kind-of claps that weren’t exactly beat perfect so we all took turns to clap and sing our way through the night….

We also tried to record an instrumental piano track tonight called ‘Black & White’ (inspired by the funeral parade and march sometimes present at Oxford Arts Factory) on Gene’s kitchen piano. This method proved to need microphones inside the lid which resulted in the actual clicking of the keys shining through on the recording which I took quite a liking too…however we decided it wouldn’t really work with the different piano tone present on the rest of the tracks…

So with that we closed the lid on the night and said our good byes and

Goodnights.

DAY THREE IN THE STUDIO

Here begins the day of vocals!

Which to be honest I was initially quite nervous about this morning.

When I sing my fingers always accompany me on the piano and my voice and the keys weave together in their own way… However today lends me the opportunity to focus more on vocals and engage in the songs in a different light…

So back into the little room I go, all-rugged up like an Eskimo with a giant coat and snow boots my headphones were like earmuffs and I try to not be so nervous.

The first song on the album is titled First Fleet. Working by song title you can guess its context. Kind of a vigorous intense sea ballad with an ethereal chorus and a classical piano/heavy drum coda, which is intended to portray the battles on the then barren harbor shores on that fateful day in 1788.

The music kicks in and we unfortunately work through about 100 takes and it’s just not right. Raymond comes in and out, and coaches me and I take off my igloo jacket and roll my sleeves up, and do star jumps and eat honey and pace around the garden thinking of a different melody, and try it all barefoot and then try it with my Viking shoes on again. But alas nothing works and we decide come back to it and work on another song. The next track is Mr. Pleaseman which is an older song and proves to be a lot easier to produce, and from then on in the ship sailed in a much more fluid motion.

Over the course of this time my hands and arms began to do crazy things.

They are usually quite occupied by the piano so I’ve never really known what they would do had they been left to their own devices. They were swinging everywhere and my feet were stamping and I stood on one leg a hell of a lot for some strange reason. So I guess I kind of felt like a flamingo impersonating Diana Ross in an abstract Mighty Boosh zoo setting. With carpet.

All this out of control hand/limb activity reminded me of being on tour with Angus & Julia Stone and Julia would make these crazy formations with her fingers. Male and female admirers throughout the crowd labeled these finger actions as ‘spider fingers’, it made the boys go wild.

So the sun set and we journeyed on the music ship throughout the night until our eyes were weary and decided to close our books for the night.

Half the vocals are now complete. Hurrah hurrah!

Farewell dear fellows,

Dibbsy

DAY TWO IN THE STUDIO

Back to the cozy house by the river for more melody making. The little house by the river with the green backyard and the Bonsai farm and the barking dogs is a lovely change from the inner city streets.

I’m currently livin in a slant room. Where the walls are like a sea shanty and the roof is bent like an old rusted horseshoe. Where there are old piano keys at my feet, and paint on the carpet and ridiculous dresses showering the walls and fairy lights and tapestries and general disorganization…but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Mr. Ian on the other hand is very organized today, and we head back into the back room in the rain to finish laying down the rest of the tracks.

Mr. Tristan is coming in today to lay down some guitar on a song called Cowboys, which was inspired by George W Bush, the CBD district and old westerns films.

Zachie who is possibly the coolest kid on the block and son of Mr. Ray will also be hangin out today and playing drums and being crazy and just being my favorite kid around town eating vegemite sandwiches and making me want to climb trees, drink poppers and eat out of lunchboxes all over again.

Piano Bash, Drum Smash we play and play and stop and start and get all the notes inside the computer and then as the sun sets and the rain belts down in plastic buckets… Tristan arrives. Wheeling in his Fender, guitar in one hand bottle of rum in the other and big magic grin plastered on his face.

So just imagine. I would ask you to close your eyes but then it would be impossible to read so don’t do that. But maybe squint or something. There is my piano an dirty rotten synth in one corner and Rays rather large drum-kit in the other corner and the oh so grand Mr. Tristan Loomes huddled in the other corner and were all tangled up in leads and cords and god knows god damn what having a jolly good time.

Zachie is banging on the doors and entering to smash the drums and then exiting due to the high decibels of sound and then coming back in because its far more exciting inside the sound-cave.

And then Tristan enters into a new music sphere alone in that little carpeted room, laying down guitar overdubs and quickly making his way through the rum. He weaves webs of golden sugarcane magic and quickly takes the song to a new level.

All the tracks have now been recorded instrumentally.

It has been a great day.

DAY ONE IN THE STUDIO

Here begins the adventure of the blog.

Good morning dearest cyberworld.

Here to begins the adventure of making a record.

It was Goddamn cold this morning when Mr. Ray and myself drove in his motor vehicle piled with keyboards, percussive items and a large drum kit to the quiet and quaint suburb of Roselle. For those who are unaware of it’s location you can find it after a lovely drive along the Glebe Island Bridge and a little bit past Balmain. And then around the corner from there.

There are many cakes and elderly people and others pushing strollers, and then the select freaks such as ourselves that frequent these parts to produce organized chaos in nice cozy homesteads.

So on this particular winters morn, I sleepy eyed from awaking early, which is quite often rare (as 3am seems to be a great time for my brain to explode with all sorts of colorful ideas) Mr. Ray (who’s brain could explode with all sorts of colorful ideas at 3am and he would still manage to make a masterpiece out of the mess and meet you at your abode at 6am… Eyes covered by big, black shades but nonetheless as awake as a newborn kid) pulled up next to a little white weatherboard cottage, next to a lake, which will be home to all sorts of musical ideas over the next few weeks, or months? Not sure as yet…

Two Jack Russels welcomed us with small limbs that clambered all over everywhere, as well as Gene and Ian, who we will be recording with. Gene lives in the home studio and is the first human I’ve met in the entirety of my somewhat short life who has perfected the art of wearing two pairs of pants. Yes ladies and gentlemen two pairs of pants! One long and one short. Ian on the other hand only wears one per of pants per day, and this seems to suit him just fine. After introductions and chocolate éclairs for Raymond we begin the day, laying down around six songs, which we have decided to record live.

We set up in a tiny wooden, carpeted room in the backyard, which, thanks to modern technology is connected to the lounge-room where the omniscient voice of Mr. Ian looms over us and within us through headphones and invisible clouds.

I think we will spend quite some time in the little carpeted room.

So there we are.

A short account of the first day of a long project.

Bidding you adieu from Dibbsy J
